  Striking Toto or Lottery

On the valentine's day, I happened to got 3 numbers and an additional number for this draw. My first $20 prize from a Lottery. I have never believe in striking toto as its probability is 1/80million. The result is below.

http://www.singaporepools.com.sg/Lottery?page=toto_past&drawNo=2301

Striking toto is pure luck i guess. I tried to anaylse and using probability, but there are bound to have some randomness in the combination of every draw. Hence, it's pure luck. But is the quickest, shortest way to become 'successful'. If you make good use of it, you are on the track. If not...

This short clip has inspired me to become the best I can be. If you are hungry for success but couldn't find a way out of your normal routine, this is a movie I would recommend you. This is the movie that give me the strength (actually I have the strength inside myself which I never work on it) to make this site.

After watching this movie over and over again, I decided to buy the book and happened to find the full lenght of the movie and the Oprah Talk show talking about it and the audio that can motivate me while taking a transport to school, work or wherever.

  Your secret to success - have a vision of who you are and who you want to be
An article I found..

-----------------------------------------------

Life Mapping: A Vision of Success

Success is more than economic gains, titles, and degrees. Planning for success is about mapping out all the aspects of your life. Similar to a map, you need to define the following details: origin, destination, vehicle, backpack, landmarks, and route.

Origin: Who you are

A map has a starting point. Your origin is who you are right now. Most people when asked to introduce themselves would say, “Hi, I’m Jean and I am a 17-year old, senior highschool student.” It does not tell you about who Jean is; it only tells you her present preoccupation. To gain insights about yourself, you need to look closely at your beliefs, values, and principles aside from your economic, professional, cultural, and civil status. Moreover, you can also reflect on your experiences to give you insights on your good and not-so-good traits, skills, knowledge, strengths, and weaknesses. Upon introspection, Jean realized that she was highly motivated, generous, service-oriented, but impatient. Her inclination was in the biological-medical field. Furthermore, she believed that life must serve a purpose, and that wars were destructive to human dignity.

Destination: A vision of who you want to be

“Who do want to be?” this is your vision. Now it is important that you know yourself so that you would have a clearer idea of who you want to be; and the things you want to change whether they are attitudes, habits, or points of view. If you hardly know yourself, then your vision and targets for the future would also be unclear. Your destination should cover all the aspects of your being: the physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Continuing Jean’s story, after she defined her beliefs, values, and principles in life, she decided that she wanted to have a life dedicated in serving her fellowmen.

Vehicle: Your Mission

A vehicle is the means by which you can reach your destination. It can be analogized to your mission or vocation in life. To a great extent, your mission would depend on what you know about yourself. Bases on Jean’s self-assessment, she decided that she was suited to become a doctor, and that she wanted to become one. Her chosen vocation was a medical doctor. Describing her vision-mission fully: it was to live a life dedicated to serving her fellowmen as a doctor in conflict-areas.

Travel Bag: Your knowledge, skills, and attitude

Food, drinks, medicines, and other travelling necessities are contained in a bag. Applying this concept to your life map, you also bring with you certain knowledge, skills, and attitudes. These determine your competence and help you in attaining your vision. Given such, there is a need for you to assess what knowledge, skills, and attitudes you have at present and what you need to gain along the way. This two-fold assessment will give you insights on your landmarks or measures of success. Jean realized that she needed to gain professional knowledge and skills on medicine so that she could become a doctor. She knew that she was a bit impatient with people so she realized that this was something she wanted to change.

Landmarks and Route: S.M.A.R.T. objectives

Landmarks confirm if you are on the right track while the route determines the travel time. Thus, in planning out your life, you also need to have landmarks and a route. These landmarks are your measures of success. These measures must be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time bound. Thus you cannot set two major landmarks such as earning a master’s degree and a doctorate degree within a period of three years, since the minimum number of years to complete a master’s degree is two years. Going back to Jean as an example, she identified the following landmarks in her life map: completing a bachelor’s degree in biology by the age of 21; completing medicine by the age of 27; earning her specialization in infectious diseases by the age of 30; getting deployed in local public hospitals of their town by the age of 32; and serving as doctor in war-torn areas by the age of 35.

Anticipate Turns, Detours, and Potholes

The purpose of your life map is to minimize hasty and spur-of-the-moment decisions that can make you lose your way. But oftentimes our plans are modified along the way due to some inconveniences, delays, and other situations beyond our control. Like in any path, there are turns, detours, and potholes thus; we must anticipate them and adjust accordingly.

  What is the definition of success?
Each of us has our very own definition of success. Many of us thought that Millionaires/Billionaires are the ones who considered to be successful. However, we often hear story of the rich who are not happy with their life. Do they still considered to be successful when they are not satisfied with their life?

James Arthur Ray says that we have to have all 5 aspect in our life to have a completely successful life. There are the Finance, Relationship, Intellectual, Spritual and Physical (FRISP).

  Write to Earn at Helium
Below is my first article written for Helium.

-----------------------------------------------------

Tips for living with very little money

Having too little money? What you earn is not enough for you to spend? Every month you work and wait for payday to come. By midweek, almost all your income is used up. Soon, you begin to ask yourself, "Why am I spending 8 hours a day to work for the money I need to stay alive?"

Each of us has a lifespan. We should be enjoying our life and living it to the fullest. How can we color our life with the limited amount of money we have? Do we have to live a miserable life with little money?

Calculate the amount of money you have to spend in a month - hand phone bills, utility bills, fees, loans, food, transportation, and other miscellaneous monthly expenses. Write down what you want in your life. Rank according to your needs. Starting from the bottom of the list, think of ways you can reduce the monthly expenses. After cutting down on the monthly expenses of the things you don't really need, calculate the total amount you have to spend. Now, set aside this amount plus 10% more every month you get your pay.

After settling the necessary expenses you have to attend to every month, you can now put all your attention on the money you have left after deducting the monthly expenses. This would be how rich you are every month. By focusing on the abundant rather than scarcity, you would be better off. Then, you can live a more exciting life with the little money you have.

If you want to go for a holiday at the end of the year, save 60% of what you have left and use the rest for your weekly entertainment or social life with friends and family. The amount of enjoyment you have would have no limits when you keep your monthly expenses at a constant. When your pay increases, you would become richer.

With very little money, one could still dream for a nice holiday and good lifestyle he wanted without having to munch on bread or do the things he dislike due to the lack of money. Use the very little money and match it with what you want in life to make your life a better one. You don't have to live a miserable life when you are poor. Think rich with the very little money. Little can become big when they are combined.

How to enhance your presentations with PowerPoint

In our world today, presentations are unavoidable in businesses you do. You have to sell your products or services to potential clients through presentations. The question is, why do we need to present with PowerPoint? Before PowerPoint was developed by Bob Gaskin and Dennis Austin in 1987, how do we give our presentation? There is a controversial issue of whether a presenter could do without PowerPoint. So how important is PowerPoint for your presentations and how does it become a stepping stone to successful sales?

PowerPoint presentations give the speaker the advantage of presenting his ideas across to the targeted audience at his own pace. This is done by controlling the speed of the slides to be shown onto a screen for the audience. Free PowerPoint templates and various PowerPoint backgrounds are included in the software itself to provide the user with convenient choices. Currently, there are three different PowerPoint views ("Normal view", "Slide sorter view" and "Slide show") that serve different purposes for the user. The "Slide show" option is used by the presenter to show one slide at a time to his audience.

There are two essential points to take when you want to value add your presentation with PowerPoint.

1) Who is your target audience?
2) What is the purpose of your presentation?

Your audience could be adults, elderly people, or students, but they can be grouped into the Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic ("VAK") "learners". Hence, the PowerPoint should be used to target all the three types.

For Visual learners, a presentation should have captivities slides. Relevant graphics from the clip-art gallery, websites or photographs can be included to enhance the visual impact of the slides. Graphs and diagrams can speak a thousand words. However, one should not use pictures and diagrams for all the slides. It should be able to captivate but also simple and neat enough so that the audience's attention would not be glued to the slides. The slides background should be plain and simple so that the motive of the slides would not be overshadowed by the colorful and attractive background. Another common mistake is to have plenty of animation in a single slide. Animations should be used only when important messages need to be delivered or a point that is not supposed to be known by the audience until the speaker desires it to be.

For auditory audience, a good speaker is needed. And for the kinesthetic learner, slides should have minimal amount of words so that they would have a chance to jot down important notes mentioned by the speaker. This will make them attentive to the presentation.

PowerPoint is to enhance the presentations. Hence, one should be clear of the objective for the presentation. The purpose of your presentation should match the slides in your PowerPoint. For example, if you want to present your health products to a sponsor for your company's R&D funding, the slides should deliver the outstanding reasons why the sponsor should fund the company instead of showing slides on medical jargons and the photographs of the medicine your company is producing.

Hence, PowerPoint is not meant to impress your audience about how creative and "high-tech" you are, but about how you use it to capture your audience interests and to deliver your message across so as to clinch a deal. Therefore, keep it short and sweet, neat and simple, and straight to the point.

My third article written at

How to unlock your innate potential?

Unleash your innate potential now! But you may ask, "How do I know what is my innate potential? Even if I know it, I would never be able to unlock it". The common statements we usually hear from our friends and families are, "I'm fat, I'm clumsy, I'm stupid, I can never be a movie star, I can never fulfill my dreams, I should stop dreaming and do whatever I'm given, and so on". It is often easier for us to become negative than to stay positive in our life. As such, we focus on our weaknesses and make it more prominent in our life.

What we focus on is what we will get in our life. Hence, if we focus on the negative side of our life, we will get more of the negative stuff. If you keep thinking that you can never get out of the debt you have, you can never be rich and successful, you never will. Why? The answer is simple. The energy you have in your body is used up to brood over the negative stuff in your life. Thus, draining away all the energy you have in your life; making you feel more tired, restless and less motivated. How can you unlock or even realize your innate potential when you feel powerless and dead? You can never discover your potential as the cycle goes on and on. So, what should you do?

There are three steps to open the gate of your innate potential - to understand, to discover and to live your life with your potential.

Step 1: Understand what innate potential is.

Innate potential is the inborn ability or skill in an individual when he was first born. It is a very high level skill compared to the others without such potential. It is called potential because the skill is not discovered even though it is inside each of us.

If you have not succeeded in your life, you have not unlocked your innate potential. Why Bill Gates can become a billionaire without completing his university life? Why David Beckham can become rich and married to a beautiful wife by kicking a ball? Why Tiger Wood can become so successful and famous just by going onto a land of grass, hitting a tiny ball with a stick? There are so many billionaires, millionaires in all kind of career. Will Bill Gates become a billionaire by kicking a ball? Will David Beckham be successful by playing golf? And will Tiger Wood become famous by player soccer? The answer is obviously NO. Why?

Each of us has a unique ability for us to become a professional in that area. It is something that we need to discover since young to unleash the potential and make our skill satisfied our life. It is not called a potential unless we discovered it and work towards it. Innate potential is a gift given to us from the god or from our parents. It is inherited and deep inside us.

Unfolding the potential you have will advance you to a much greater height in a faster pace than working on your weaknesses. We often hear people saying that we should work on our weaknesses to become a more successful person. However, if you do not possess the golf skill like Tiger Wood, no matter how much you practice, you can only be a normal golfer. What you have lost will be the time you could have used to improve on your innate potential to bring you to a much greater height.

Step 2: Discover your innate potential.

Now you ask, "How to discover my innate potential?"

The answer is to feel gratitude. "Nothing new can come into your life unless you are grateful of what you already have." Dr. Beckwith.

How does one discover his innate potential by feeling grateful of what he has? When you feel grateful of what you have, you will focus on your strength. Even little thing like being able to see the world with your pair of eyes, you can feel grateful for it. As you express your gratitude everyday, you will know what you have currently.

From there, you will soon discover some of the greatest strength you have never notice. Keep working on the strength you have uncovered. Your innate potential will be the one that you can do at ease with great result. It needs time to discover your innate potential. Hence, it is important for you to feel thankful everyday.

Next, ask yourself what your hobbies are and what you like to do during your leisure time. More often than not, the things you like to do happened to match with your innate potential. However, of course we have to find the hobbies that will not be harm to others. Normal hobbies like sports, music, arts, or writing can be some hobbies that may be your potential. I am sure you can ask your close friends if you do not really know what you are good at. Most of your close friends or family should know what your hobbies are.

In our society, we have to excel in our studies since young as it is essential for us to get a good certificate to be employed with a good salary. Thus, to be successful, one has to be excellent in his studies. This often overshadowed the true potential of a child. Not everyone would excel in their studies to become a professor or to win a Nobel prize. Sadly, parents often think that a child should study hard to become a doctor or lawyer to be successful in life.

Hence, as a parent, we should have an open mind and look closely at what our children could excel in. From there, we develop them into the person they ought to be and not the one that we want.

As an adult who has not discover his innate potential, one should be aware of what he is good at and focus on that. Neglect what the society often need. Every career has a leader in it. Unlock your innate potential can only make you a unique player in that particular industry. There are people who like to draw even during their lectures, but they never enroll to an arts school as the belief of poor artist is still strong.

Therefore, in order to discover your innate potential, you have to first feel grateful of what you have and secondly be ready to step out of your "comfort zone" set by the society. One person has only one life, live it to the fullest.

Step 3: Live your life with your potential.

After knowing what your potential is, search for one successful person with that potential similar to yours. Learn from the way he work things out and climb up the ladder to become a success story.

Knowing your potential is not enough. You need to take action. You must think of yourself to be successful, and then feel the feeling of becoming a successful person. You may be afraid to become successful, so tell yourself this, "I'm available to more goods that I've experienced, realized or imagined before in my life" Dr. Beckwith. Then you will be willing to move a step forward. Without moving forward, everything would still be the same. Next, is to take action in your life. Only when all these come into alignment, then you can realize what you really are.

If you discovered that you have the great ability to sing, think of what you can do to bring you to a greater height. You can sign up for singing contests you can find in your area. Start with a smaller scale contest so as not to give you too much stress that would push you back to your normal self and hide away from your true potential. Once you have consistently doing what you are good at, have a wildest dream of becoming the idol you idolized and work towards it. "To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe" - Jacques Anatole Thibault.

Sometime you may fall back to your usual self and it is perfectly normal. The only way to live your life with your discovered potential is to keep believing in it and keep working at it. If it is your true potential, once you have started it, it is hard to stop. All your energy would be invested into your new found ability. And this energy would be much greater than the energy when you use it on your weaknesses. This will spur you to a much greater height when you hunger for more success in the area you are good at. You will enjoy the things you do while ripping all the good.

Once you have reached your goal, then you have fully unlocked your innate potential. Enjoy the success you ripe from unlocking your innate potential. Be ready to be successful!

How to be happy in everyday life

{Suggestion}
Gratitude is the most powerful positive attitude and emotion that would bring about happiness in everyday life. It is often easier to stray away from gratitude and complain about the life in every little aspect. That is why we find it so hard to stay happy as we started to feel bad about our life. So, why gratitude equals to happiness?

{Reason}
Happiness is a positive emotion which brings joy and energy into our life. Gratitude is when you are show your appreciation in your life with whatever you have and is given to you. It is also a positive emotion which matches nicely with happiness. When we feel thankful of our life, we feel GOOD about it.

{Examples supporting the suggestion}
Simple examples can be found in the ‘Success stories’ of ‘Helium’ forum. Writers show their gratitude of getting their first penny, or even breaking the $0 barrier which bring them to cloud number nine. You will never be happy if you never appreciate what you already have.

Another example can be seen in your relationship. What happen if your feel thankful for every little things done by your partner? When you tell your partner you love the dinner she cooks or you love the massage he has given to you? Your partner would only do more of the stuff you wanted and both would feel loved and happy. In contrary, try to complain about all the things done by your partner. Does he/she feel appreciated? Will he/she feel happy? And most importantly, do you feel happy to spot every little ‘mistake’ done by your partner?

{Practical advices}
Try this out: Everyday, you wake up in the morning, say ‘Thank you for the opportunity to start afresh in life; Thank you for the shelter to keep you safe and warm; Thank you for all the necessities available to you in your house; Thank you for …’ Fill in the blank with a list of your own gratitude. Do it ever morning you wake up. This will brings out the powerful positive energy which is already inside you.

Next, I want you to write down a list of benefits you already have in your life. Write as much as you could. Every little thing like, ‘I can see the whole world and beautiful things with my pair of eyes’. Write at least 50 benefits you have in your life. If you feel unhappy with your current life and want to change it, write 2 benefits each to all the benefits you already have when your life has transformed to the one you wanted. Hence, as you tried to improve yourself further, you could still feel happy because of the current benefits you have.

Forgiveness is a step to take if you have problems feeling gratitude. Free yourself from the emotional pain of hating a person or job or situation. You can never get anything good out of it by hating them. Hate is a very negative emotion which would contradict with happiness. Forgive your ‘enemies’, LOVE them all. You have to believe me that everyone has at least a good point for us to love them. Look for it and free yourself from hate and open your heart and soul to love.

{Conclusion}
Happiness is just waiting for you at the other side of the line when you feel gratitude about your life. It is the ‘Law of attraction’. The likes attract likes. Knowing all these does not make you a happier person unless you take the first step to act and react!

One last thing: Look at the mirror every morning and smile. See how wonderful a smile can bring happiness to the mankind. It is free to smile anyway.

Stay happy and smile always.
=)

A guide to living in Singapore

Planning to live in Singapore? Read on for a concise guide to living in Singapore.

{Language}
The very first thing you need to know about a country is its nation and spoken language used. Singapore is a multi-nation country broadly divided into 4 main races namely Chinese 76.8%, Malay 13.9%, Indian 7.9%, others (mainly Caucasians) 1.4%. Ironically, the nation language is Malay in which the national anthem is written in. However, the main spoken language used is English. Every country has its own unique way of using English. In Singapore, we called it 'Singlish' where all the Malays, Chinese dialects and Tamils are mixed within a sentence. If there are any words in the sentence which you do not understand, feel free to ask around as it would be useful for your conversations with the locals.

{Culture}
Language and culture are like bolt and nut. One cannot live without the other. To be able to blend into a country, one should know about its culture as well. Singaporeans are mainly systematic and legal bidding. As Singapore is a young nation, together with its multi racial characteristic, Singapore’s culture was not yet deep rooted. Despite the four ethnic groups, the Chinese Singaporeans is different from the China Chinese and the Indians in Singapore are different from the India Indians in terms of their mother tongue used and their thinking and values. As a whole, Singaporeans love to eat (due to the large variety of food), complains and are competitive (as we are always seeking for improvements in order to survive).

Even though Singapore is a multi-racial country, it may not be easy to blend into the group. The language barrier has to be broken first and understanding the Singaporean’s way of life.

{Basic necessities}
Accommodations – “Singaporeexpats.com” provide a good link for finding the appropriate accommodation.
Getting around in Singapore is done by the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT/Train), buses and taxi. You can never get lost in Singapore with its transportation system. “Streetdirectory.com” can be use to locate the places you are visiting and it will describe to you in detailed how you can get their by the public transports.
Telecommunication – Prepaid card or contract plans from Singtel, Starhub and M1 are easily available.
Entertainment – Pubs and discotheques can be found mainly on the southern part of Singapore or city area. More popular Clubhouses are ‘Saint James power house, Ministry of Sound, and Double O” and a stretch of pubs can be found at “boat quey”.

To live in a foreign country, basic details of a country can be found easily on the website. Hence, to know exactly how is the life like living in the foreign country would serve a clearer view of living in the country.

Reflections: Living every day with passion

Passion is the very strong emotional feeling about a subject or person, and usually referred to the feelings of intense desire and attraction. Being a student for 18 years, it could be quite boring at times when I lost interest in some of the subjects I was supposed to study. So how do I live everyday with passion and what inspired me the most?

1. The room where I live and study in

I put up pictures of a world map, the cities I wish to go to, the books I am going to read, and the famous and inspiring people onto my wall. I made a board with pictures of the successful guy in my field of studies, the phrases of the characteristics I am building towards, and the pictures of my future career (the company names, buildings, and etc). Everyday before I sleep, I printed out an A4 size paper with the pictures and words of the life I want to have for the following day and paste it on the ceiling where I sleep in. I build an environment in the room I am in, with all the pictures of my needs and wants.

2. Before I sleep

Beside pasting the pictures of the life I want to have, I thank the god for the wonderful day I had and a comfortable bed to sleep in to get rested and replenished for the next day.

3. The moment I wake up

I look at the pictures I pasted on the ceiling for 3 minutes while lazing on the bed and thank the god for giving me the life I want to have. Then I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go.

4. Communication with others

The ideal case is to meet people with the same passion as you throughout the day. However, not every people you met would be in such a positive mind. Some of the lecturers give inspiring talk while teaching the students. However, when I met with people full of negative thoughts and complain, I always listen to them and tell them good things about life but never tell them what they should do. When I'm drained out of passion, I would go to a park or any quiet place to reflect. Sometimes the places I went to, spark my interest in life and give me the strength and energy I need.

5. Inspiring books, audio and video

When I am traveling, I would have some pre-recorded inspiring speeches by various inspiring speakers inside my MP3 player. These will give me the energy to live my life with passion whenever my energy was drained away. Books and videos serve the same purposes. Depending on the type of learner you are, choose the type that spurred you on the most. For me, I prefer video as I can see and imagine, and listen at the same time.

6. List out the people with inspiring life

When I see how Mother Theresa spread her love all around the world unconditionally, I feel inspired by her. I feel that life is so beautiful and we must live our life to the fullest everyday. It makes me feel how fortunate I am and how one could give all her life to serve the needy people who she did not know. When I feel grateful of my life, I look at my life and the things that I have, I feel thankful. I do not know why I got a stream of energy going through me when I feel thankful of my life. It just makes me want to do all the things I want to do with my best effort.

To conclude, I feel more passionate reading the successful stories of people and feeling the passion of those people who seem to be able to light up the whole world with their energy. These make me live my life with passion and always look forward to the next chapter of my life.
